Coloured Ardens Grafton Burr Ash

Made from a piece of the stump burr that came from the garden of the old cider mill in the village of Ardens Grafton in Warwickshire. The figure in the wood is really spectacular and the additional colouring has really accentuated the wild grain and the spalting, it has to be handled to appreciate it the piece.  It has been finished with an eco-friendly waterborne lacquer which requires no maintenance other than dusting.

The Aerial Pine Burr lid is very unusual, I was told by the guys at the sawmill in Hanbury, Worcestershire, that the beach ball sized burr grew 30' up a small pine tree. It had been sitting under the sawbench for more than 20 years waiting for someone to be able to use it and do justice to such a rare growth. Their words not mine.It smells wonderful when first cut but sadly that soon disappears. 

It measures. 145mm H x 145mm D (5 ¾" H x 5 ¾" D) and has a capacity of 80cl (48cu in)
