I was out walking my dog one morning and came across this Ash tree that had been felled due to the Ash Die Back Disease. I could see the amazing ripple figure on the cut faces so I contacted the owner of the field and we came to an agreement that he would get a set of bowls and I could have all the usable wood from the tree.
This piece developed a few splits during the drying process, I take this as an opportunity to make a feature of the splits rather than try to disguise them. I do this by using a two part epoxy adhesive mixed with a holographic glitter, in this case Turquoise. It has an Ebony lid with a 12tpi handcut thread and a corresponding Holly insert.
It measures 250mm H x 170mm D and has a volume of 3.1 ltrs
